Seasonal Stream Fishing

Our seasonal stream trips take place at legendary locations such as the McCloud River, Upper Sacramento River, Pit River, Hat Creek, and many others. These trips are walk-and-wade adventures through some of the most beautiful mountain scenery in our state.

These are very rewarding and peaceful waterways, as many of them are freestone rivers running through canyons. Big trout live here—these rivers clean up quickly and typically have very clear water. The trout can be smart at times, but they are willing to take a well-presented fly.

Each trip includes lunch, and each day is curated to meet the customer’s goals for the trip. Reach out to us if there is a specific river you have in mind!

Target Species

These trips are primarily conducted from the last Saturday in April through the end of June, but they are water temperature-dependent. We target Rainbow Trout and some Brown Trout using a lot of euro nymphing and dry fly fishing with 3-5 weight rods.

Where We Fish

Typical days begin with meeting up to park your car, suiting up, and then driving in another direction to work our way back to your vehicle. We’re looking for pools, runs, and riffles where trout are likely to set up to feed. These rivers offer gorgeous scenery with easy accessibility, such as the Upper Sacramento River, which runs along Highway 5 and has many access points.

Each day is crafted around your goals. We might have days where we wade miles of river looking for prime structure, and others where we spend the entire day thoroughly working a couple of holes that we drive to each time.
