I’m owner and head guide of NorCal Fishing Guides. My love for fishing and the outdoors is why I chose to be a guide. I’m hard working, knowledgeable, and passionate about what I do. A NorCal Native, my father exposed me to the beautiful, and abundant waterways. I've been hooked ever since! After 20+ years of fishing these local waters, I pride myself in the various fly fishing styles. We offer lessons for the first time angler and precise guidance for the experienced. MATT MITCHELL
Matt Mitchell was born and raised in Redding California and has been guiding full-time since 2008. As a lifelong angler, he knows the waters he fishes intimately and loves to share his passion and knowledge with others. Matt’s patient demeanor as an instructor projects onto any skill level of fisherman. Matt will always make sure you learn something new along with having an enjoyable trip. Matt spends his days guiding the Trinity River for salmon and steelhead, Fall River, Pit River, McCloud River, Hat Creek, the Lower Sac and a few of his favorite still waters for trout. Matt also enjoys chasing steelhead on the coastal waters of Northern California. Matt will work hard to accommodate your needs and make sure you are a better angler at the end of the day.
Greg Hector
Greg Hector has 30 years fly fishing experience, 15 years as a guide. Born and raised in Shasta County, he’s a 1987 graduate of North State Christian High School where he was MVP in basketball and received lettered invites to College of The Siskiyou Shasta College and Chico State University. With a family in his sights and fly fishing as his passion, he opted to stay home, start a family, and follow his dreams. Greg is well versed at single hand and two hand spey. When Greg is your guide, you’re guaranteed to walk away with more knowledge and a great experience on the water.
Tom Philips
Tom Philips is a Redding native with 30 years experience fishing the Redding area and Sacramento River system.
Whether rowing a drift boat or walk in wade fishing on Hat Creek, Tom has the knowledge and experience to guide you on any fly fishing adventure Northern California offers. With 2 seasons guiding both fly fishing and gear in Alaska on the Kasilof River, Tom has experience in chasing down Steelhead, Rainbow Trout and Salmon.
NEIL AMUNDSON
Born in the far northwest corner of northern California, Neil cut his teeth on the Smith, Klamath, and Chetco rivers chasing Steelhead and Salmon. Fishing since the ripe young age of 3 he now has over 45 years of fishing under his belt. Now residing in Redding, Neil spends his time guiding on the Sacramento, Klamath, and Smith Rivers chasing Trout, Steelhead, and Salmon. Neils passion for catching fish and teaching others is apparent as soon as you fish with him. Whether it's fly fishing or gear fishing, Neil will keep your rod loaded and net wet.
